DISCUSSION The Public Works Agency (PWA)'s Maintenance Services Division is responsible for cleaning over 200 vacant lots, easements, and storm drain channels. The Community Development Agency also requires the service of weed abatement to maintain vacant City-owned properties. Removing the weeds and debris of both public and private properties enhances the safety and visual appearance of the city. On September 5, 2006, the City Council awarded a contract to Naranjo Landscaping for a one-year period with provision for three, one-year renewals. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period and has agreed to renew the contract without an increase in pricing.
