PUBLIC COMMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS
The Mayor announced that this was the time to hear public comments on matters on the
Council and Agency agendas and on items of public interest within the subject matter
jurisdiction of the City Council.
Steve McGuigan raised concerns about Item 25C and invited the public to the Relay for
Life event at Centennial Park on July 11 and 12; Venancio Chavez commented on an
issue related to a tree at his complex in the French Park Plaza.

Mayor Pulido announced the following modifications to the consent Calendar:
• Mayor Pro Tem Alvarez recorded a "no" vote on Item 19C and pulled Item 25C
for discussion

RESOLUTION NO. 2009-032 - A resolution of the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana considering the City's statement of investment
policy.

Motion:
1. Approve an appropriation adjustment. (Requires five affirmative

APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT NO. 09-107- Recognizing additional
revenues of $225,630 in Title I Adult funds, $92,760 in Title
Dislocated Worker funds, $239,610 in Title I Youth funds and $62,000
in administrative funds from the State of California for the 2009-10
fiscal year allocation.
2. Adopt a resolution.
RESOLUTION NO. 2009-033 - A resolution of the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana authorizing the City Manager of his designee to
execute all necessary documents of the Workforce Investment Act
Sub-grant with the State of California, Workforce Investment Division

• Thanked all community members staffing the fireworks stands on the
July 4th weekend and thanked the Santa Ana Police and Fire
Departments for the wonderful job they did in keeping the City safe

• Requested a report from the Fire Department on the 4th of July
activities; Fire Chief Martin provided an oral report to Council
• Asked the Council to adjourn in memory of Ralph Lucio
Mayor Pro Tem Alvarez
• Thanked the Police and Fire Departments for their work efforts over
the July 4th weekend.
• Asked the Executive Director of the Parks, Recreation and Community
Services Agency if the City's pools were in compliance with a new
federal regulation requiring special drains; Mr. Mouet responded that
• four of the City's five pools were in compliance and work is in progress
on the drains in the fifth pool.
• Mentioned that she saw a movie trailer for a new film entitled "Old
Dogs" which features the Santa Ana Zoo
