Use caution when opening attachments or links. <br />I read about the recent program that will enable the City to construct fencing, along freeways <br />and riverbeds, as a means to address some of the issues brought forth by encampments. <br />Can a new fence be constructed for the Metro East Residents under this program, funded with <br />CalTrans' money? <br />At Metro East Senior Apartments, the senior citizens are very vulnerable. The 5 South runs along <br />the east side of the development. <br />There have been encampments reported under the underpass. <br />The fencing that is in place belongs to Caltrans, but that was used for construction as a means <br />to physically define the CalTrans easement line. <br />I have made several efforts to have this address and each time CalTrans has refused to respond. <br />First they said they were not responsible, then they made a repair, then they said they are not <br />responsible. <br />The last response I received via AM Valencia is that CalTrans does not have the budget. <br />Our elected AM has issues helping seniors as it means he will have to " pick winners and losers" <br />(his words in writing). <br />Thanks, <br />VICTOR D MENDEZ <br />1 <br />
