Dear Santa Ana Team, Below and attached are public comment / letter of support of Frida Cinema regarding Agenda Item #11 . •,```"' GCAC a. -.uD GEn TR AL ART CENTER SANTA ANA,CA October 20, 2025 Dear City of Santa Ana Review Committee, As Director and Chief Curator of Grand Central Art Center in Downtown Santa Ana, a unit of CSU Fullerton —College of the Arts, I am writing to express my enthusiastic support for The Frida Cinema and their visionary approach in organizing Art Walk. Our organization is dedicated to the open exploration of contemporary art and visual culture through socially engaged collaborations among artists and communities. Being part of a community that houses organizations and leaders who not only share these principles but also have a shared interest and passion for collaboration is essential. The Frida Cinema exemplifies this spirit. Beyond serving our community—and indeed, Orange County at large—it stands as the sole non- profit, art house-model cinema where individuals can enjoy the communal experience of classic, arts, or independent films that would otherwise be inaccessible in our region. The Frida Cinema has established itself as a true community asset, frequently collaborating with educational, arts, and cause-based organizations through its outreach efforts. From outdoor screenings and educational presentations to workshops, their programming demonstrates their strong commitment to creating meaningful cultural experiences. Their expertise, connections, and dedication make them an ideal choice to continue expanding beyond their walls and into managing the Downtown Santa Ana Artwalk. I strongly support The Frida Cinema as the official steward of the Artwalk for the next five years. I can confidently say that The Frida Cinema is uniquely equipped to take on this role, ensuring that the Artwalk continues to thrive as an integral part of Santa Ana's cultural fabric. For all these reasons, I strongly encourage the City of Santa Ana to support The Frida Cinema's proposal. Please feel free to reach out with any follow-up questions at 714.567.7234. Sincerely, 1 John D. Spiak Director/Chief Curator Please support today and help propelling our vision forward! GCAC Crowdfunding Campaign October 1-31, 2025 GCAC SRAND :. Use caution when opening attachments or links. Dear Mayor and Councilmembers, I am writing to express my support for the City of Santa Ana’s continued sponsorship of the DTSA First Saturday ArtWalk, organized by The Frida Cinema. DTSA ArtWalk has become an essential part of Santa Ana’s cultural and community identity. It celebrates local artists, enriches our city’s creative spirit, and fosters a welcoming environment that brings residents and visitors together. Beyond its artistic impact, the ArtWalk also drives meaningful economic activity—attracting patrons to downtown, supporting small businesses, and creating opportunities for local vendors, performers, and entrepreneurs. Since assuming coordination of the program, Logan Crow and his team have done an exceptional job. They have been collaborative partners who engage with artists, businesses, city staff, and the broader community with professionalism and care. Each event reflects their creativity, organization, and responsiveness to community feedback—qualities that have strengthened ArtWalk’s role as one of Santa Ana’s signature cultural events. I respectfully urge the City Council to continue supporting and funding this vital community program. Sincerely, Jose Romo 1 Flores, Dora From:Margo Alleman <allemanmargo@gmail.com> Sent:Tuesday, October 21, 2025 2:37 PM To:eComment Subject:Support for Agenda Item #11 Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana.
