First of all, I appreciate the City of Santa Ana allowing the residents of the above location to submit our opinion on the
decision-making process on these locations.
As a resident I do believe the owner of the property and the City should be fully honest with the residents as to what the
future plans are for this location. Without identifying the future plans on this property you are keeping the residents in
the dark.
Approximately three years ago there was an attempt to build a McDonald's restaurant at this location. The first step
was to change this zoning from General Agricultural to Commercial. After studies of the surrounding area and the
residents input the City declined to change the zoning.
As members of the City Council I would advise all of you to take the time and travel to this location to see what the
driveway and traffic situation is at this point. My concern is adding additional businesses on Santa Clara and controlling
the increase in traffic as Santa Clara narrows to one line, and the multiple ingress and egress for Stater Bros. and Del
Taco, the apartments and Highway Patrol on the same side of the street. These three entrances/exits are not limited to
one direction and we have seen multiple accidents in this small area.
These two properties would be suited for residential or parking for the surrounding areas instead of commercial traffic.
