On Monday, July 2, 2018, at approximately 0307 hours, Santa Ana Police Department
(SAPD) Detective JUSTO CAPACETE and I conducted a digital audio recorded interview of Care
Ambulance Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in reference to the SAPD officer
involved shooting of DONADONY TAYLOR. The following is a summary of the interview that is
not verbatim or necessarily in order of the conversation, but organized for the purpose of
clarity. Refer to the audio recording for exact quotes, comments and statements.
On Monday, July 2, 2018, at approximately mid-night, was working on Care
Ambulance #9571 as an EMT with his partner, . They received a call to respond
to 1020 West Civic Center Drive, Santa Ana, to assist Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) Engine
#71 with a gunshot wound patient, later identified at TAYLOR. The incident scene was in the
parking structure 2nd level at the south east end.

There were numerous police officers and police cars present. returned to the
ambulance to retrieve a back board. He noticed a lot of blood and a chest seal on the center of
TAYLOR’s chest, which was usually for a gunshot wound. He had attached to
him and a monitor. His was being monitored and there was a dressing on his left
arm for bleeding control. A tourniquet was applied to TAYLOR’s left arm. His breathing was being
controlled with a . An . There were
decreased lung sounds on the left side and a was performed. They
continued while TAYLOR was placed on the back board and then on the gurney. They loaded
the gurney into the ambulance and left with lights and siren activated for the hospital. They
relinquished care to the hospital staff.
