AGENCY: SANTA ANA POLICE DEPARTMENT
On Monday, July 2, 2018, at approximately 0010 hours, Orange County District Attorney
(OCDA) Supervising Investigator STAN BERRY contacted me regarding a Santa Ana Police
Department (SAPD) officer involved shooting. BERRY requested I respond to the public parking
structure located at 1020 West Civic Center Drive to assist in the investigation.
At approximately 0115 hours, I arrived on scene and met with investigators from OCDA,
SAPD, and the Orange County Crime Lab (OCCL), who were present to assist in the investigation.
At approximately 0206 hours, SAPD Sergeant ABLE OROPEZA, #2499, conducted a
briefing of the known circumstances surrounding the incident. At the conclusion of the brief ing,
BERRY assigned myself and SAPD Investigator GUS MOROYOQUI to interview witnesses.
