Last Sunday, 12/01/24, evening, she was working at the taco trailer with her boss, indicated the trailer was parked at the same location as it was tonight, adjacent to Guadalajara Furniture, 117 N. Broadway, along the east side of Broadway. She was standing on the east sidewalk of Broadway next to the taco trailer. was standing in the middle as stood to her right. While standing behind the trailer, she could see across the street through the taco trailer window. Through the trailer window, she could see a subject standing across the street near the south corner of the Casa Linda furniture store. She also noticed the subject was holding a long object. The subject appeared suspicious as he manipulated the object and paced back and forth. Her boss, told her something was about to happen. As moved to her right to get a better look, she heard gunshots and the subject drop to the ground. Upon hearing the gunshots and seeing the subject drop, she ducked behind the trailer. said she was frightened, lost her strength as her nerves got to her. She was taken inside of the furniture store, Guadalajara Furniture, and eventually transported to the hospital. She saw police personnel arrive after hearing the gunshots. She did not see police personnel arrive or contact the subject prior to hearing the gunshots. When asked to describe the object the subject was holding, she could only describe it as a long object. did not see the subject point the object at anyone or communicate with anyone else. She did say she was tending to the food that was cooking on the grill and not giving the subject her full attention. said she heard 5 gunshots and could not tell from what direction they came from. After hearing the gunshots, she suffered from her panic attack and could not tell us what happened next. She did see police personnel arrive after hearing the gunshots. She described the subject as a male, approximately 5’10 in height, NFD. added she has been having issues with her eyesight and getting treatment for her ailment. Gomez #2706 Author: Gomez, Francisco 2706 BWC NOT Activated Santa Ana PD 2024-26142 Report by Gomez, Francisco 2706 2 of 2 SUSPECT: NARRATIVE: On 12/01/24, Santa Ana Police Officers responded to the area of 1st Street and Broadway in regards to a suspect armed with a shotgun or a rifle. Upon arrival, Santa Ana Police Officers encountered the suspect, later identified as , south of Casa Linda Furniture, 116 N. Broadway. The encounter lead to an Officer Involved Shooting. On 12/02/24, I viewed city cameras and noted a camera that was located in the area of 100 N Broadway. This camera is titled Artist Village-Camera 4 and located on the east side of Broadway, just south of 201 N. Broadway. The camera is pointed in a southwest direction. On 12/03/24, I contacted Officer J. McFall #3613 and requested his assistance in obtaining footage from that camera. I requested 45 minutes worth of video beginning at 1700 hours. On 12/04/24, I picked up a storage drive from Officer McFall with the requested footage. I viewed the footage and noted the following. ARTIST VILLAGE-CAMERA 4 12/01/2024 5:14:59 PM The suspect appeared into camera view walking east on the north side of 1st Street and turned north on the west side of Broadway. When the suspect crossed the Casa Linda parking lot driveway, 116 N. Broadway, it appeared he was holding an object that was pointed outward. The suspect turned west just south of the furniture store and was out of view. 5:28:18 PM A family of three walked south along the west sidewalk towards the parking lot located south of the furniture store. Once the family approached the driveway of the parking lot, they stopped and walked away back north away from the driveway. The family of three turned west onto 2nd Street. 5:32:25 PM The police vehicle arrived, north on Broadway from 1st Street. 5:34:25 PM A second police vehicle arrived, south on Broadway and coming to a stop just south of 2nd Street. I uploaded the footage to evidence.com, per DOJ Agent Rice’s request, and booked the storage drive into evidence. Footage from the intersection of 1st Street and Main Street is also included. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2024 – 0855 HOURS: I met with California Department of Justice Agents T. Baca and D. Ibarra. We responded to the Arco gas station located at 302 W. 1st Street and contacted the manger, allowed Agents Baca and Ibarra to review and collect surveillance video footage from the gas station. Agent Baca collected approximately one hour of footage, beginning at 1700 hours, from camera #8 and #11. It should be noted; the time stamp was approximately 5 minutes ahead the actual time. Agent Baca provided me a copy of the footage, which I later uploaded to evidence.com. I later viewed footage from both cameras. Approximately 19:23 minutes into the footage, I noticed a subject walking east on the north sidewalk of 1st Street. The subject continued east and turned north on Broadway, west sidewalk, until out of camera view. Refer to the footage uploaded to evidence.com for details. 1218 HOURS: We contacted the manager, of Casa Linda Furniture, 116 N Broadway. Agents requested to see footage from the underground parking lot. After viewing footage, Agents did not see anything of value. No additional footage was collected. Barragan #2937 conducted a briefing with Detectives from the Homicide Section and California Department of Justice Investigators regarding the initial response to the scene and the preliminary investigation done by patrol personnel. Sergeant Barragan informed us that on December 1, 2024, at approximately 1708 hours, Santa Ana Police Department Communications received a call reference a male armed with a shotgun at 1st Street and Spurgeon Street. Santa Ana Police Department Patrol Officers were unable to locate the suspect at that time. At approximately 1732 hours, Santa Ana Police Department Communications received an additional call reference a male loading a rifle. At approximately 1733 hours, an officer involved shooting occurred on Broadway north of 1st Street. Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) Engine #75 personnel responded. The suspect, , was transported to OC Global Medical Center where he was ultimately pronounced deceased by Dr. at 1826 hours. Patrol Officers checked the area for surveillance footage and witnesses. Two witnesses, and were transported to the Santa Ana Police Department. Numerous items of evidence were located at the scene including a replica shotgun, expended cartridge cases, handgun magazine and 40 mm less lethal rounds. Sergeant Barragan further stated was involved in an incident with the Santa Ana Police Department Officers in the area of 3rd Street and Ross Street on November 26, 2024. The incident was documented under SAPD case number 24-25754. 2041 hours: Sergeant Barragan concluded the briefing. 2120 hours: I signed out of the scene with Officer A. Carrillo and responded to the Santa Ana Police Department. 2242 hours: Detective F. Gomez #2706 and I spoke with in interview room #3 at the Santa Ana Police Department.
