MISSION
■ The mission of the Graffiti Task Force is to
improve the quality of life for those who live, work
and visit our City, by removing urban blight and
effectively sharing resources by coordinating multi -
agency efforts for:

OBJECTIVES
• Establish a PWA Court Referral Program

GRAFFITI TASIL FORCE:- 2009 GOALS
■ Chapter 41 Code Amendment to include specific anti - graffiti
landscaping requirements
■ Amend the City -Wide Design Guidelines to include a chapter on
graffiti mitigation. Chapter would include standards on:
• Graffiti prevention through architectural design
• Increased landscaping
• Security Lighting
■ Create tools in SAPIN for quick identification of "high" graffiti
areas

JUVENILE COURT
■ A Penal Code misdemeanor case results in 20
days of community service, $50.00 fine, CDI.
suspension, probation and restitution paid to the
victim.
■ A Penal Code felony case results in the same
penalty as a misdemeanor with an increase in the
fine to $100.00 and 20+ days of community
service

ADULT COURT
• A Penal Code misdemeanor case results in 200
hours of community service, $100.00 fine, CDL
suspension, formal probation and restitution paid
to the victim.
• A Penal Code felony case results in 20 to 60 days
in jail, $200.00 fine, CDL suspension and formal
probation
• Penal Code misdemeanor cases can take up to 5
months to be concluded in court, felonies can take
up to 3 months to conclude

• Photos are uploaded to Graffiti Tracker's database.
• Photos are then reviewed by assigned analyst who
works directly with Santa Ana
• Photos are categorized in the database by the type
of graffiti, name of the tagging crew or gang and
moniker
■ Emails are received regularly on graffiti trends

• One adult arrestee was identified through Graffiti
Tracker with 58 separate "tags" resulting in a
conviction and restitution of $20,300.
• One juvenile arrestee was identified through Graffiti
Tracker with 38 separate "tags" resulting in a
conviction and restitution of $13,400
• Numerous multiple count cases have been identified
and successfully prosecuted
