On 06-09-25, at approximately 1950 hours Officer C. Perez #3964 and I
were working uniformed patrol for the city of Santa Ana driving a
marked black and white police vehicle. We were dispatched to 1519 S.
Van Ness Avenue in reference to an armed robbery that had just
occurred. Upon arrival, Officer Perez and I contacted the victim
and Evelyn Reyes who stated they were robbed at gun point in
the area of Ross Street and Pomona Street and the loss was
IPhone and air pods.
and Evelyn described the suspect (later identified as
as a male Hispanic, wearing a black and white striped shirt with
black pants and black shoes armed with a silver and brown handgun.
Officer Perez interviewed both of the victim refer to his primary crime
report for further details.

While on scene, I was able to track apple devices via the find
my iPhone application on his father’s cell phone. devices were
showing at 1716 to 1720 S. Birch Street. I requested the assistance of
additional officers and set up a perimeter around the location. I
requested the assistance of air support who arrived on scene and later
located the suspects. Officer Perez and I drove to the front of 1720 S.
Birch Street and observed from about 10 yards away in the front
lawn of the residence. I observed wearing a black and white
stripped shirt with black pants, which was the same description that
both of the victims provided.
I turned on my overhead blue and steady forward facing red light and
gave commands to put his hands up while pointing my gun at
him. did not comply and ran in west bound direction into the front
door of 1720 S. Birch Street. Additional officers were on scene and
contained the residence. was later taken into custody at 1719 S.
Ross Street by Officer M. Benavides #3766, refer to his supplemental
report for further details.
A safety sweep of the backyard was conducted by additional officers for
any possible outstanding suspects with negative results. K9 officer E.
Maietta #3370 located a pellet gun on top of a dresser located in the
rear patio area of the residence. The pellet gun was later collected by
Forensic Specialist S. Davila #3975. Corporal G. Raya #3345 received
verbal consent from home owner to search inside of
the residence for the victim’s property. Officer Perez and I conducted a
search for the victim’s property.
Evidence:
Officer Perez was searching inside of a bedroom located on the
southeast portion of the residence and located a firearm matching the
victim’s description. The firearm was in a black fabric case that was
located on a shelf inside of the closet. The firearm was a Springfield
1911 handgun that was silver in color with a brown grip. The gun
matched the description gave to Officer Perez and also matched
the style of handgun that showed Officer Perez from an internet
search.

I later interviewed who stated he did not know any of the
male’s subjects that were detained by officers and were possibly friends
of his sister I asked he owned any other weapons
and he stated he had three other weapons that were inside of his closet
unsecured. said he had 1 ar-15, 1 shot gun and 1 lever action
rifle inside of his closet. I asked if I had consent to retrieve the
firearms and he stated yes. I asked if anyone else had
access to the weapon and he stated no.
Officer Z. Mora #3675 and I located the 3 long guns in the closet. The
weapons were not in a safe, did not have any locking mechanism and
were easily accessible to residents in the home. The weapons located
were; 1 Springfield Saint 556 , Serial #ST649893 ; 1 Smith and Wesson
Model 1854 44. Magnum Serial #LLE3590 ; 1 SAT Import LLC 12 GA.
Shotgun Serial #630-H24YT-1968 ; 1 Springfield 1911 45 CAL. Serial
#NM96856 (collected by CSI Davila). All the weapons were registered
to at 1720 S. Birch Street. I collected the weapons for safe
keeping and for the unsafe storage of firearms and for being used in the
commission of a crime. I also collected 100 rounds of Fiochhi 556
ammunition 50 rounds of Remington 357 magnum and 50 rounds12
Gauge Winchester super target ammunition. I later booked the three
long guns and ammunition into evidence for safe keeping.
Identification:
I drove back to 1519 S. Van Ness Avenue and conducted an infield
identification with I read the Infield identification
admonishment from my department issued officers index booklet. I
placed into the back seat of my patrol vehicle and drive him to
the area of 1719 S. Ross Street where was detained in the back
of the ambulance. While seated in the back seat of my patrol vehicle,
positively identified via his facial features and clothing.
had a clear and unobstructed view of from about 10 yards
away. view was illuminated with ambient light from my patrol
vehicle. Evelyn was unable to conduct an infield identification due to
being transported to the hospital. While on scene, female resident
identified as the male wearing a black and white
striped shirt to Cpl. Raya

Forensic Specialist responded to 1519 S. Van Ness Street and showed
and Evelyn the 1911 handgun. and Evelyn both positively
identified the silver and brown 1911 handgun as the weapon used
against them.
This report concludes my involvement in this report.
