On October 22, 2012, at approximately 2241 hours, Orange County District Attorney
Supervising Investigator RON SEMAN contacted me regarding an officer involved shooting that
involved the Santa Ana Police Department. SEMAN requested I respond to 525 West Walnut
Street in the City of Santa Ana and assist with the investigation.
At approximately 2330 hours, I arrived at the command center location and met with
investigators from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and Santa Ana Police
Department who were present to assist in the investigation. Orange County District Attorney
Investigator PAUL CARVO requested I conduct a canvass interview north of the crime scene
which was located in the alley/ driveway behind 210 South Birch Street. I was teamed with
Santa Ana Police Department, Detective LEO RODRIGUEZ.
At approximately 0055 hours, Detective LEO RODRIGUEZ and I conducted canvass
interviews on Walnut and Birch north of the crime scene. The interviews were audio digitally
recorded. Please refer to the audio recordings for full and complete details of the interviews.
Most interviews were conducted in Spanish by Detective RODRIGUEZ.

Home at the time, saw and heard nothing.
No answer and believed to be vacant.

Approximately 11:30 PM, observed 4-5 male subjects loitering in the alley at
210 S. Birch. and did not witness the shooting.

At approximately 11:00 PM, and his wife, , were in bed when they heard
yelling and 4-5 gun shots. remembers seeing numerous male subjects in the alley earlier
in the night.

At 10:00 PM, heard two gun shots and believed they were just shooting in
the air. No yelling or commands were heard.

Heard 4-6 shots while in the house.

At approximately 10:00 PM, he heard 4 shots while inside house and heard no yelling or
commands.
