MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
April 7, 2007

NEW BUSINESS
1. ICE BREAKER
Executive Director G. Mouet led the group in a Mind Map exercise in which each member
explained their role in the community, shared interpersonal skills, shared something
personal and any unique qualities/aspects they bring to the Board.
2. REVIEW OF AGENCY PURPOSE AND STRUCTURE
Executive Director G. Mouet provided presentation with handouts on file with Recording
Secretary for review.
3. PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES FUNCTION EXERCISE
Executive Director G. Mouet led the group in an exercise in which each member described
their idea of each Agency TQS Team Function and what a worst case scenario would be for
each team.
4. REVIEW OF BOARD MISSION, PURPOSE AND COMMITTEE STRUCTURE
The City’s Charter was reviewed regarding the purpose of the Board.
5. DISCUSS COMMITTEE RE-STRUCTURING AND ASSIGNMENTS
Current Committees and structure viewed, new plan for year defined as follows:
Committee on Field Use (CoFU) – Staff: Mike Lopez. Board Member: Ken Nguyen
Meets the fourth Friday of each month at 3:30 p.m.
Health and Fitness Task Force – Staff: Jeannie Jurado. Board Members: Frank Acosta (if
meetings are held after 5:00 p.m.), Tish Leon, David Orea

Matters listed on the Business Calendar are generally proposals or items
requiring discussion.

Events and Programs – Staff: Lorraine Lazarine-McCarty. Board Members: Tish Leon, Max

Open Space – Staff: Ron Ono. Board Members: Frank Acosta (if meetings are held after
5:00 p.m.), Joshua Havlik, Tish Leon and Julie Stroud.

Very informative meeting.
J. Stroud
Would like to know why the pool at Santa Ana College is not used by the Agency.
Inquired about the existence of Bylaws for the Board.
Inquired about the policy on Commissioner absences.
Requested a tour of the Santa Ana River to learn why designated projects were selected.
T. Leon
Really enjoyed the meeting as it was very informative and is now looking forward to moving
ahead.
Requested a tour of parks and facilities.
