STAFF/CONSULTANT COMMENTS G. Mouet In response to previous request for street banners to advertise Agency events, due to current budget situation, would be too costly to order and install due to frequency of change. Would need to identify events that would benefit from this type of advertising. Recommendation was the Rubber Boot Race held annually in January. On behalf of Parks Superintendent Mike Lopez, Angels Community Park and Madison Park playgrounds will be receiving new sand. Park rules are prominently at all parks. The Little League backstop at Riverview has been removed. As the budget situation is pretty dire, and if we can no longer offer leisure programs taught or lead by Agency staff, then we may need to begin considering contracted leisure programs. J. Sandoval Two opportunities will be offered in September to complete the mandatory AB1234 training. A. Martinez Seeking commissioners to serve as judges for the Talent Show on August 14th. Board shirts have been ordered and will be here before the next meeting. Board of Recreation and Parks Minutes of July 23, 2008 Meeting Page 4 of 4 BOARD/STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COMMENTS J. Espinoza, Student Representative Would like to report that the lake at Thornton Park is frequently flooded and seeps onto the walking trail along Segerstrom and Bear. M. Madrid netz4Life will be finishing their six week program this week. Have done a terrific job over the past five weeks and have served over 50 youth. They do a great job, and their attendance has doubled this year. Great program and we need to continue to support it. T.
