front north facing door. Once ARELLANO entered the business, he appeared to “hide” near a
change machine located just inside and to the east of the north entrance door.
did not know ARELLANO personally but had seen him on several occasions in the
business complex, drinking alcohol with other males. described ARELLANO as a male
Hispanic, in his early twenties, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches in height, approximately 170
pounds, with black hair, unknown color of eyes, possibly wearing a black t-shirt and unknown
color pants.
Once ARELLANO entered Jugo’s La Tropicana, saw a uniformed female police
officer, later identified as JESSICA GUIDRY, approach the front door of the business and say
something to ARELLANO in English. did not speak English so she was unable to
understand what was said between GUIDRY and ARELLANO. heard ARELLANO yell at
GUIDRY and he appeared to become more aggressive and agitated as the conversation
between him and GUIDRY continued. thought the conversation between GUIDRY and
ARELLANO lasted for approximately one minute before GUIDRY un-holstered her weapon and
pointed it at ARELLANO.
GUIDRY used a two hand grip while pointing her pistol at ARELLANO. ARELLANO did not
raise his hands and “puffed” out his chest and moved towards GUIDRY in an aggressive manner.
At this point, GUIDRY fired one shot at ARELLANO. estimated that ARELLANO was twelve
feet away from GUIDRY at the time of the shooting.
After the shooting incident, ran into the kitchen area of the restaurant and
fainted. She did not return to the front of the business until uniformed Santa Ana Police
officers responded and escorted her outside.

was provided a hand drawn sketch of the scene, which she initialed, and was
