Dear Mayor Amezcua and Santa Ana Councilmembers, My name is Kerri, and I am urging you to support item #28. My friends are struggling with rising electricity bills that are forcing us in Irvine and them in Santa Ana,where I grew up,to make impossible choices. In 2025, SCE made a record $5 billion in profit with a $16.6 million raise for their CEO, all while 1 in 5 households are behind on their energy bills by an average of$833. We need relief now. The legislation in this resolution would begin to reform California's broken regulatory system by improving utility accountability, requiring greater transparency, reducing shareholder profits, and ensuring that large new energy users, such as data centers, pay the full costs of their electricity use. Thank you for putting community voices first and representing your constituents' needs. Santa Ana residents have been vocal about the strain rising energy bills are putting on households, and this Council listened. Santa Ana has shown what real leadership looks like and can send a strong message to Sacramento that utility affordability must be a priority. Santa Ana residents deserve a more transparent, accountable, and cost-effective energy system. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to seeing Santa Ana approve an affordability resolution on August 4.
