BUSINESS CALENDAR
Public Hearing: The Historic Resources Commission decision is final unless
appealed to the City Council within 10 days of the decision by any interested
party or group. Legal notice was published in the OC Reporter on April 27,
2026 and notices were mailed on said date.
1.HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION APPLICATION NO. 202601 FOR THE
PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2115 NORTH MAIN STREET LOCATED WITHIN
THE COMMUNITY COMMERCIAL – MUSEUM DISTRICT (C1MD) ZONING
DISTRICT.
Project Applicant: Ashil Pansuria with SYD Group, representing SA Hotel
One, LP (“Property Owner” and “Applicant”)
Project Description: Request for approval of Historic Exterior Modification
Application (HEMA) No. 202601 for a historic property known as the MacFarlane
House, categorized as “Contributive” on the Santa Ana Register of Historical
Properties. The proposed exterior modifications include: (1) restoration of original
design elements that have been altered or removed; (2) removal of nonhistoric
features, including portions of the enclosed porch, exterior stair elements, and an
upperstory door; (3) installation of a multilight wood entrance door and a double
hung wood window beneath the front porch; (4) infilling the upperstory door with a
new stud wall and wood shingle cladding to match the existing siding; and (5)
construction of an accessible ramp and landing at the north end of the porch,
installation of a new doublehung window, addition of woodframed French doors
with an awning, and a new exterior staircase at the rear (east) elevation.
Environmental Impact: Pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act
(CEQA) and the CEQA Guidelines, the Project is exempt from further review under
Section 15331 (Class 31 – Historical Resource Restoration/Rehabilitation), as this
action is designed in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s
Standards for Rehabilitation and therefore will not result in a significant impact to a
historical resource. A Notice of Exemption, ER No. 202628, will be filed for this
Project.
Recommended Action:
Adopt a resolution approving a Certificate of Appropriateness for Historic
Exterior Modification Application No. 202601 as conditioned.
