Renew the contract with Proforce Law Enforcement for the purchase of Glock firearms, X26
tasers, and accessories for a one year period in an annual amount not to exceed $85,000.
DISCUSSION
The Santa Ana Police Department utilizes Glock-manufactured firearms as standard issue side
arms. The Glock firearms allow for standardization in training and ammunition magazine
interchangeability between officers. Additionally, the police department purchases X26 tasers and
taser cartridges for use by officers. On May 5, 2008, the City Council awarded a contract to
Proforce Law Enforcement for a two-year period with provision for three one-year renewals. The
vendor has performed satisfactorily during the contract period and has agreed to renew the
contract without an increase in pricing. Staff recommends the first renewal option of the contract.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Police Property and Facilities account (no. 01114450-63001).
