Approve minutes of the regular meeting of March 1, 2007.

RECOMMENDATION:
Instruct the Commission Secretary to enter into the minutes that pursuant to the
Brown Act, the March 1, 2007 Agenda for the Regular Meeting was posted on
' the door of the City Hall Council Chambers at 22 Civic Center Plaza on February
26, 2007 at 8:43 a.m.

(b) Jeff Dickman was elected to serve as Vice Chairman effective April 9, 2007.

Associate Planner Rally Soboleske reviewed last year's objectives and discussed
the annual objectives for 2006-2007.
F. REVIEW THE 2007 HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARD NOMINATIONS
Filed by the City of Santa Ana to recognize outstanding achievement in the
Historic Preservation Projects.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the Ad Hoc Committee's nominations for the 2007 Historic Preservation
Awards.

RECOMMENDATION:
1. Adopt a resolution approving Historic Resources Commission Application
No. 2007-06 and Historic Register Categorization No. 2007-06.

Associate Planner Hally Soboleske provided the staff report and
recommendation.

3. Staff Comments
Planning Manager Haluza and Senior Planner Klotz welcomed the new
commissioners.
Associate Planner Hally Soboleske announced the California Preservation
Foundation conference to be held in Hollywood, CA at the Roosevelt Hotel on
May 3-6, 2007. She informed the Commission that she will participate at the
conference with a presentation promoting the Mills Act.

• Announced the birth of his son.
• Welcomed the new commissioners.

• Thanked the commission and staff, especially Hally Soboleske for her
contributions

Vice Chair Dickman
Inquired about the property at 2221 N. Heliotrope Drive (Maharajah
House). Planning Manager Haluza provided information and indicated the
applicant will return to the Historic Commission for approval of the exterior
modifications.
Commissioner O'Callaghan
Inquired about Commissioner Chinn. Commission Secretary Ramirez
provided information.
1 • Commented on a meeting conflict on Thursday, May 3 with the California
Preservation conference.
- Congratulated Commissioner Bustamante and welcomed the new
commissioners.
Commissioner Mill
• Thanked the commission for their welcome.
Commissioner Stroud
Inquired if new properties being listed on the Historic Register receive
signage or a placard on the property. Ms. Soboleske provided information.
Thanked the commission for their welcome.
Commissioner Seeley
• Apologized for being late.
• Welcomed the new commissioners and congratulated Commissioner
Bustamante and his family.
Chairman Schaefer
• Welcomed the new commissioners.
• Encouraged attendance at upcoming Preservation Foundation event
during May 3-6, 2007.
Requested an update on the Citywide Design Guidelines. Planning
Manager Haluza provided information.
5. Excuse of Absences
Commissioner O'Callaghan motioned to excuse the absence of Commissioner
Chinn. The motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Dickman and unanimously
approved by the commission.
