The April 2007 - June 2007 quarterly status report for the Housing
Choice Voucher (HCV) Rental Assistance Program provides statistics for
the day--to-day activities of the Santa Ana Housing Authority. The
report is divided into three sections: Waiting List, Participants, and
Production.

Chart 2 illustrates the number of applicants by total household size.
The majority of families on the waiting list consist of only one or two
members.
Over half of all applicants
(2,937 of 4,978; or 590) have
one or two member households
and would qualify for a
one-bedroom voucher. The
Santa Ana Housing Authority's
occupancy policy is one
bedroom for every two family
members.

At the end of the reporting period, there were 2,492 households
receiving rental assistance from the Housing Authority.
Chart 3 illustrates participating families, sorted by number of family
members. Over two-thirds (710) of families receiving assistance have
three or fewer members.

Authority pays the difference between the tenant portion and the
contract rent. This payment is the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP).
The average HAP for April through June 2007 was $745 per unit. The
total HAP paid in April through June was $5,478,840.
Production
HQS Inspections
Each assisted unit must be
inspected at least annually to
ensure it meets the Housing
Quality Standards (HQS) in
compliance with federal guide-
lines. From April to June, a total
of 493 inspections were performed.
Chart 7 illustrates the number of
inspections performed monthly
since July 2006.

Re-certifications/Tnterims
Each year, the Housing 450
Authority must re-certify each
participating family to ensure 400
compliance with program 350
eligibility. In addition, when
a participant's income changes, 300
an interim examination must be
performed. During the 250

Sixty-three other change of unit actions were processed during the
reporting period. The monthly average since July 2006 is 19 per month.
