KtJVUKI.tJ l.V1Vll [)F THE CITY dF SANTA ANA MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA SEPTEMBER 7, 2001 Van Tour of Proposed Broadway Historic District The meeting commenced with the van departing City Hall at 2:50 p.m. as "unofficial discussion" given the lack of a quorum. Madame Chair Kings, Commissioners Bustamante, Chinn and Giles attended tour of proposed Broadway Historic District with stops along Broadway from Civic Center Drive to Santa Clara discussing set-backs, proposed One Broadway Plaza, zoning, Broadway Corridor Design Plan and Midtown Specific Plan. CALLED TO ORDER: 4:18 P.M. City Hall Ross Annex Second Floor Conference Room 2002 20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California ATTENDANCE: COMMISSIONERS Present: Rose Anne Garcia Kings, Chair Paul Giles, Vice Chairman Philip Chinn, Pro Tem Carlos Bustamante Rita Corpin COMMISSIONERS Absent: James Gartner Blair O'Callaghan Robert Richardson STAFF PRESENT: Charles View, Planning Manager Kylee Odette, Deputy CityAftorney 1 Joseph Edwards, Principal Planner Jeffry Rice, Principal Planner Maya DeRosa, Senior Planner 1. BROADWAY HISTORIC DISTRICT STANDARDS AND BOUNDARIES Charles View, Planning Manager, led the discussion with the Historic Resources Commission regarding the Broadway Historic District concept. Principal Planners Jeffry Rice and Joseph Edwards continued the discussion regarding general plan and zoning background for the area. Ann Ni, Associate Planner, led the Commission through review of the existing North Broadway Corridor Design Standards document. Staff and Commission discussed options to update the corridor standards and necessary amendment to the zoning code to support the desired enhancements to the Broadway Corridor. At the conclusion of the discussion the following action plan was agreed to: • Update the North Broadway Corridor Design Standards as noted in the discussion. • Prepare zoning code amendments for front yard set-backs and signage. • Provide training sessions for staff regarding the North Broadway Corridor Design ' Standards. • Provide an update to the entire Commission at the next meeting of the outcome of the study session. Due to t/he loss of a quorum, the meeting adjourned at 5:25 p.m. V Ch rtes View Planning Manager
