3. ORDINANCE AMEND1t-TENT NO. 99-O1
To create categories and criteria for historical properties I~sted on the Santa Ana Register of
Historical Properties citywide. II
LEGALLY NOTICED: April 4, 1999
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve in concept the three-tiered categorization approach resented and direct staff to
prepare the implementing Ordinance Amendment No. 99-01 Ifor consideration by the City
Council.
Mr. Joseph Edwards, Principal Planner, presented the staff Deport and recommendation.
Motion to continue Ordinance Amendment No. 99-01 indeJk'nitely.

Motion to establish a committee to evaluate register of istorical structures with ZZ State
criterion into the proposed three-tiered approach.

6. Comments from the Executive Director.
The Executive Director was absent. II
7. Comments from the Planning Manager and Staff.
Mr. Joseph Edwards introduced Chris McClurg, Maya eRosa, Chad Rosenblum, James
Purpura, Bob St. Paul of the Zoning/Advanced Section of th Division.
8. Comments from the Historical Resources Commissioners.
Commissioner Marsh informed the Commission that she wquld be forwarding the white binder
to staff for computer preparation, content modification, and completion.
' Commissioner Berry asked when the moditications would b~completed from Chapter 30 of the
municipal code. Mr. Adams responded that Assistant Ci Attorney Gary Sheatz would be
preparing all of the revisions of Chapter 30 and would forvyard the completed revised package
at an upcoming Commission meeting. i
Commissioner Kings asked when the demolition process Would be agendized. Mr. Adams
informed the Commission that the demolition process wouldjbe soon forthcoming. In addition,
he apprised the Commission that he had a recent conversati ns with an applicant who intended
to demolish six stnlcmres located on Washington, 10~` Stre ,Broadway, and Sycamore, all of
which were listed vn the Santa Ana Register of Historic Pro ernes.
Commissioner Brener requested that staff develop a mission statement far the Commission and
bring the statement back a[ an upcoming meeting.
9. Excuse of absences.
Commissioner Brener moved tv excuse the absence of Commissioners Cribb and Simons. The
motion was seconded by Commissioner Berry and unanimously passed.
10. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
