RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA Af~A APPROVING HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION NO. 2008-41 TO PLACE THE PROPERTII' LOCATED AT 1207 EAST FRUIT STREET, SANTA ANA ON THE HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC, REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2008-41 PLACINd SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE LANDMARK CATEGOf{1(~'~ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOUR ES~&'bMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: ~.~ Section 1. The Historic Resources Commis of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: ~~ C? A. On March 5, 2009, the Histo~~~2esourc@s Commission held a duly • noticed public hearing for th~Ai'acement on the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties (Hi Resources Commission Application No. 2008-41) and cate ation (Historic Resources Commission Categorization No. 41) of the Orange County Detention Home, located at 1207 EasleE uit Street, Santa Ana, California. B. The Orange C >~jty Detention Home was aonstructed in 1925 and is a Spanish Col I Revival styled building. It currently houses the Phoenix House, a ~j~ and alcohol rehabilitation center that was established in 1985. td C. This,~¢~Iding qualifies for listing on the San~a Ana Register of Historical P rties and is eligible for categorization s Landmark because it has clique architectural significance," as it exemplifies distinguishing ,(e~~haracteristics of the Spanish Colonial Revival style, and is of (~~` "historical/cultural significance to the City" as Orange County's first o'ff' juvenile detention facility. ~~~D. Character defining features of this structure include two principal entries, roof configuration, and square entry towers. E. The legal owner of the subject property is I~hoenix House of California, Incorporated. F.
