At its Regular Meeting of February 15, 2011, by a vote of 5:0 (Bist absent), the Community
Redevelopment and Housing Commission recommended that the Housing Authority receive and
file the Quarterly Report for Housing Choice Voucher Program {October 2010 -December 2010).
DISCUSSION
The October 2010 -December 2010 quarterly status report for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV)
Rental Assistance Program provides statistics for the day-to-day activities of the Santa Ana
Housing Authority. The report is divided into three sections: Waiting List, Participants, and
Production.
Waiting List
The Housing Authority
completed a purge of the wait
list in December 2010. As of
December 31, 20'10 there were
4,204 individualslfamilies on the
waiting list. The waiting list
opened October 1, 2007 and
closed November 30, 2007.

Charts 1 and 2 depict the characteristics of those currently on the waiting list.
Chart '! illustrates the percentage of those on the waiting list who work or live in Santa Ana. These
applicants are given a preference on the list.
Chart 2 illustrates the number of applicants by total household size, The majority of families on the
waiting list consist of only one or two members.
Half of all applicants

Participating families pay a portion of their monthly rent based upon their income and the payment
standard for their unit. The Housing Authority pays the difference between the tenant portion and
the contract rent. This payment is the Housing Assistance Payment {HAP).
The average HAP for October through December 2010 was $909.
