Set Public Hearing For_ CONTINUED TO CITY MANA ER FILE NUMBER RECOMMENDED ACTION Award a contract to California Professional Engineering, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, in accordance with unit bid quantity prices in the amount of $443,499 for the installation of traffic signals at two intersections: Seventeenth/King Streets and Civic Center Drive/Pacific/Bristol Street Bike Lane Extension. 2. Approve a Funding Analysis with a total estimated construction cost of $554,300. DISCUSSION This project provides for the installation of new traffic signals at two intersections: Seventeenth/King Streets and Civic Center Drive/Pacific Street and the on-street bike lane on Bristol Street between McFadden and Edinger Avenues (Exhibit 1). Once completed, these improvement projects will increase safety of motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists at these locations. The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on May 2 and 4, 2012 and bids were opened on May 23, 2012. A summary of the bid invitations mailed, the bids received, and the bid results follows. A total of five bids were received and all were responsive. The lowest bid was submitted by California Professional Engineering, Inc. for $443,499. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT Environmental Review Nos. 2009-28, 2009-29, and 2012-13 were completed. Categorical Exceptions were filed for these projects pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act. FISCAL IMPACT The Funding Analysis shows a total estimated construction cost of $554,300 for the project (Exhibit 2). Funds are available in the Measure M Street Construction Fund (accounting unit 03217660-66220), Measure M2 Street Construction Fund (accounting unit 03217662-66220), Public Service - Street Safety Projects Fund (accounting unit 14717611-66220), and the Select Street Construction Fund (accounting unit 05917660-66220).
