Renew the contract with JFK Transportation Company to provide transportation services for the
Senior Centers for a one-year period in an annual amount not to exceed $50,000.
DISCUSSION
The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency (PRCSA) provides a full scope of senior
services, including health and fitness classes, volunteer opportunities, medical and legal
consultations as well as home delivered and on-site meal programs. In order to assist seniors in
getting to these services, PRCSA arranges daily transportation services between the homes of
seniors and the City's Senior Centers, daily shopping trips and monthly excursions to local
venues. The vehicles make approximately 2,000 round trips a month and are specially designed
to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
On July 6, 2009, the City Council awarded a contract to JFK Transportation Company for a one-
year period, with provision for four one-year renewals. JFK Transportation Company, a Santa
Ana vendor, has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period and has agreed to renew
the contract without an increase in pricing. Staff recommends the final renewal of the contract.
The annual amount is based upon past usage and staff's projection for the next year.
