1. Approve a contract with Woody's Demolition for the demolition of 901
E. Brown Street in the amount of $11,100 and authorize the Executive
Director of the Community Development Agency to execute all

DISCUSSION
The Community Redevelopment Agency has acquired a number of substandard
residential properties in the Santa Ana Boulevard area as part of the
proposed Santa Ana Boulevard project. The property located at 901 E.
Brown Street (Exhibit 1) was destroyed by fire on October 23, 2005. Due
to health and safety concerns, it is recommended that it be demolished.
Notices of request for bids were mailed to thirteen demolition
contractors on the Agency's bid list. Three contractors attended the
mandatory bid walk and all submitted responsive bids. A summary of the
responsive bids received is as follows:

Based on an analysis of the bids received, the bid submitted from Woody's
Demolition was the lowest responsive bid. The project budget (Exhibit 2)
in the amount of $13,600 will ensure adequate funding in order to
demolish the unit, provide for necessary site work and fund any necessary
contingencies.
This action was placed on the December 20, 2005, agenda for
recommendation by the Community Redevelopment and Housing Commission. No
action was taken due to a lack of quorum.
CEQA COMPLIANCE
In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Categorical
Exemption No. ER- 2005 -198 has been filed for 901 E. Brown.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for the demolition are available in the Low and Moderate Housing
Set- Aside account (account no. 507 - 936 -6291 w/o # 61760).
