Approve a contract with Woody's Demolition for the demolition of 901 E. Brown Street in the amount of $11,100 and authorize the Executive Director of the Community Development Agency to execute all necessary documents. 2. Approve project budget not to exceed $13,600. DISCUSSION The Community Redevelopment Agency has acquired a number of substandard residential properties in the Santa Ana Boulevard area as part of the proposed Santa Ana Boulevard project. The property located at 901 E. Brown Street (Exhibit 1) was destroyed by fire on October 23, 2005. Due to health and safety concerns, it is recommended that it be demolished. Notices of request for bids were mailed to thirteen demolition contractors on the Agency's bid list. Three contractors attended the mandatory bid walk and all submitted responsive bids. A summary of the responsive bids received is as follows: Company Amount American Demolition $18,700 U.S. Construction $18,500 Woody's Demolition $11,100 6 -27 Contract Award for Demolition of 901 E. Brown Street January 3, 2006 Page 2 Based on an analysis of the bids received, the bid submitted from Woody's Demolition was the lowest responsive bid. The project budget (Exhibit 2) in the amount of $13,600 will ensure adequate funding in order to demolish the unit, provide for necessary site work and fund any necessary contingencies. This action was placed on the December 20, 2005, agenda for recommendation by the Community Redevelopment and Housing Commission. No action was taken due to a lack of quorum. CEQA COMPLIANCE In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Categorical Exemption No. ER- 2005 -198 has been filed for 901 E. Brown. FISCAL IMPACT Funds for the demolition are available in the Low and Moderate Housing Set- Aside account (account no. 507 - 936 -6291 w/o # 61760).
