B. COMMISSIONER COMMUNICATION DISCLOSURE (REGARDING AGENDIZED
PROJECTS)

C. HISTORIC PROPERTY PRESERVATION AGREEMENT NO. 2013 -03
Filed by the City of Santa Ana to execute a historic property preservation agreement with
Andrea Michelle Hopper for the structure located at 2450 North Bonnie Brae Street.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend that the City Council authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to
execute the attached agreement with Andrea Michelle Hopper, property owner, for the
structure located at 2450 North Bonnie Brae Street, subject to non - substantive changes
approved by the City Manager and City Attorney.

TRAINING SESSION
1. LEGAL UNDERPINNINGS OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION
Associate Planner Hally Soboleske announced the upcoming training sessions and
introduced Leslie Heumann, city consultant, who presided over a discussion of the legal
aspects and legislation on historic preservation.
PBA Executive Director Trevino thanked Ms. Neumann for her presentation and stated that
the basis for historic preservation is well established.
Mr. Trevino commented on the upcoming training sessions regarding the Secretary of
Interior Standards (November) and Chapter 30 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code
(December).
2. PUBLIC COMMENTS (items not on the agenda)
Ed Murashie stated that the Santa Ana cemetery is not listed on the Santa Ana Register of
Historic Properties.

4. HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION COMMENTS
Vice Chairman Mill commented on the sale of the Thomas House (1898 Queen Anne
structure) located at 621 North Spurgeon Street in the Lacy Neighborhood and encouraged
the preservation of the property.

5. EXCUSE OF ABSENCES
Commissioner Bustamante motioned to excuse the absences of Commissioner Hitterdale
and Chairman Schaefer; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Christy and
unanimously approved by the Commission with a vote of 5:0.
