Councilwoman Amezcua,
Please enter this statement into the record for the discussion of the nomination of Bruce Bauer as a City Planning
Commisioner.
I am very sorry to see you humiliate yourself with lies. As we stood in the creek and I showed you explicitly where the
borders of the property were and where Bruce Bauer and his associates had filled in earth to create a trail across my
backyard, you stated, "You need to let other City Council people know, I can't be the only one who knows." This
demonstrated your own misunderstanding of the trail and private property and your understanding had been directed,
in part, by Bruce Bauer.
I then stated that Bruce Bauer has used the confusion in people's minds to further his agenda. I asked you, "Taking a
look at what you now know as to the borders of the private property and what you have been led to believe, can you say
Bruce Bauer has been forthright ?"
You stood in silence looking at me unable or unwilling to make a response.
I then said, "See? You cannot say that Bruce Bauer has been forthright and that is symptomatic of how this has
progressed."
As we stood in the driveway of our family residence and you were preparing to leave, I asked you, "After seeing all of
this and comparing it to what you have thought was going on here, can you see how painful it was for many in our
neighborhoods to see you appoint Bruce Bauer, the head of the special interest group. as a Parks Commissioner ?"
You nodded and said, "Yes." I then told you that I understood how he was trying to ascend into what he perceived as
successful power centers in the City and that both of you were of a generation making your careers. I conveyed that I
understood why you were trying to help your friend but it was very tough on the rest of us. You then reiterated your call
for me to inform others on the City Council.
You then took the evidence of the arson that had recently occurred that my son had uncovered in the creek and
promised to deliver it to a fire official and left.

I have my recordings from the day and my clear recollections. You might take note that I am a professional
ethnographer who interviews natives and others for a living and have a keen memory for conversation and a method I
follow that is sound enough for legal testimony and academic publication.
I have asked you to make sure my family is not hurt by the ambitions of Mr. Bauer and have conveyed the threats he
and his organization have made to you with copies of conversations taken from City of Santa Ana computers. I am
aware of your email notice to my family that states "You should know Bruce Bauer is a friend of mine" and that it is in
violation of the City Ethics code to nominate friends identified in such a manner.
We each have an opportunity to pursue our business with each other in the way our religions and morals command and
still be successful. It is never necessary to lie but sometimes folks get confused or forget until reminded.
I offer you the opportunity to reconsider your email and remember our conversation and acknowledge that you were
surprised at the reality of the disposition of the private land and your previous understanding had been gotten, at least
in part, from information provided to you by Bruce Bauer whom you were unable to say was forthright in our
conversation and to reconsider our conversation wherein we discussed the painful aspect of your promotion of your
friend despite the feelings of those in the neighborhood.
As I have said to you on a number of occasions, 1 am aware of power and money and how folks pursue that and how
often that prevails but my only position is an honest one of trying to hold on to my property as ambitious and avaricious
individuals like Bruce Bauer seek to harm my possession of my property. I am left to depend upon the honesty of those
in public service in their execution of the law to protect my interests. I have no
ambitions.
Are you proud of Mr. Bauer's City of Santa Ana recorded email conversations with others as how to create a case for
seizing private property? Those are recorded as well and in the possession of the City and provided copies to you and
other council members. Mr. Bauer has ambitions.
Simple denial of the facts is not an argument.
Please represent my interests over those of your personal friend in your duties as my Councilwoman in accordance with
the Code of Ethics as well as your oath of office.
