RECOMMENDED ACTION
Amend the existing contract with United States Department of Justice
raising the per diem rate from $70 to $77 for federal inmates housed in
the jail facility.
DISCUSSION
The Santa Ana Jail is a 480-bed, maximum-security jail . On July 1, 1998
the City Council approved an agreement with the United States Department
of Justice to maintain and house federal offenders . This amendment will
grant authority to the Jail Facility to increase the per diem rate from
the current rate of $70 to a rate of $77 per inmate .
FISCAL IMPACT
The anticipated revenues for this increase have been projected in the FY
2000/01 budget in Police Facility Rental Account (account no. 11-01-
5830) .
