There will be 2 initiatives on the November general election ballot which support marijuana dispensaries in Santa Ana. The voters of Santa Ana deserve the opportunity to vote to eliminate dispensaries and for strong enforcement of that ban. Please vote Yes on 85A. I am also a single woman and hate the thought of having some complete stranger come to house so that i may complete a purchase. I much prefer the good old days when you could go to a shop with a big ole bouncer to make me feel safe. Please don't make it more difficult and potentially more dangerous for others like me to acquire medical marijuana. Heck, set up kiosks in CVS! Regulate and tax it - just don't make it difficult to procure it. Thanks for your time. I am a medical marijuana patient that would otherwise be disabled and unable to provide for my family. I have visited many of the dispensaries and have found them to be first and foremost - a safe environment - for access to medical marijuana. The dispensaries in Santa Ana are my only source for the medicine and a ban would force me to obtain it from street dealers who neither know nor care about treating my affliction. The dispensaries provide an invaluable community service and should be allowed to continue so long as they abide by State laws. Thank you for your time and thank you for your vote to keep dispensaries open. Sincerely, L. From: Tim Rush Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2014 4:11 PM To: Huizar, Maria Subject: Council Meeting agenda item re; Pot Dispensaries. 7/15/14 Dear Honorable Mayor & Council Members; There has been lots of discussion on this matter and I must say I have vacillated on my position. However, I am reminded that rarely does the end justify the means. So in spite of the fact that we might make a great deal of money in tax revenue I fear it would be a zero sum game given what we would spend in extra law enforcement costs due to this issue. Santa Ana has enough difficult criminal activity to stay on top of, let's not load up our plate with even more challenges. And of course we can always revisit the issue down the road. If other cities take the lead and I believe they will, let them make the mistakes and we can learn from them. On something like this I would submit that opportunities will be like trolley cars, one comes down the track every fifteen minutes. Please vote against putting this on the ballot for the citizenry to vote, take the leadership role and say NO. That is what we elect you for ...... to make good choices. Respectfully, Tim Rush. From: Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2014 4:39 PM To: Huizar, Maria Subject: Mayor & Council Maria please copy to the Mayor and Council members Dear Mayor and Council Members As a former council member and current president of the Washington Square Neighborhood Association I am opposed to Marijuana dispensaries in our city. The two that are located on 17th St. just north of our neighborhood has created problems of loitering and suspicious activities not only to our Washington Square Neighborhood but also to West Floral Park Neighborhood. The cost of enforcing these dispensaries will certainly exceed the revenue they will generate. Our code enforcement officers are stretched too thin as it is and need to concentrate on violations within the neighborhoods and not on new businesses that have already proven to be problem within the city. Again, please vote NO to marijuana dispensaries any where in Santa Ana, Sincerely, Tom Lutz. DIRECT CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE BALLOT MEASURE TO BAN MEDICAL MARIJUANA COLLECTIVES AND DIRECT CITY MANAGER TO PREPARE ENFORCEMENT PLAN INCLUDING A TASK FORCE FOR ADOPTION WITHIN 30 DAYS {STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 5, 1}- (Councilmembers Amezcua, Martinez, and Benavides) I am writing to ask the City Council to approve the measure to ban medical marijuana dispensaries. Right now I am battling a dispensary next door to my work place. They park in the lot next door&smoke on the property. When I tell them that their car will be towed, they say they don't care. Many of the clients going in, do not appear sick. I recently sent a photo of a container left by one of their clients. See attached. I found it by the picnic table in our parking lot. With all this said, I believe this is a step in the right direction. Thanks Tish Leon • CCM 7/15/2014 85A
