COMMISSIONER COMMUNICATION DISCLOSURE (REGARDING AGENDIZED PROJECTS) None Planning Commission Minutes Page 1 of 3 April 28, 2014 PROCEDURALRULES PUBLIC HEARING 1. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2014 -07 Core Development Services, representing Verizon Wireless, is requesting approval of a 58 -foot high wireless facility disguised as a pine tree at 711 South Grand Avenue, located in the Light Industrial (M1) zoning district. PUBLISHED IN THE ORANGE COUNTY REPORTER: April 18, 2014 PUBLICLY NOTICED: April 18, 2014 RECOMMENDATION: Adopt a resolution approving Conditional Use Permit No. 2014 -07 as conditioned. Assistant Planner I Ali Pezeshkpour presented the staff report and recommendation. Kim Nguyen representing Verizon spoke in support of the project. The public hearing was opened. No public members spoke. The public hearing was closed. MOTION: Adopt a resolution approving Conditional Use Permit No. 2014 -07 as conditioned. STAFF COMMENTS Acting Planner Manager Vince Fregoso commented that the Specific Plan and DEIR, in disc format, were provided to the Commission for preview in advance of the May 12, 2014 Planning Commission public hearing. Mr. Fregoso announced a reception will be held after the meeting for Martha Ramirez who is retiring on May 2, 2014. 3. PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBER COMMENTS Commissioner Bacerra inquired about the status of the adaptive reuse ordinance. Mr. Fregoso provided information. Commissioner Gartner extended best of luck wishes and thanked Martha. He announced that his son recently graduated from Rocky Mountain Aviation College in Billings, Montana. Commissioner Nalle congratulated Commissioner Gartner and thanked Martha. Commissioner Yrarrazaval extended best of luck wishes to Martha. Vice Chair Mill commented that certain all -age events in the Downtown area expose children to drugs; SAPID should be more vigilant during these events. Planning Commission Minutes Page 2 of 3 April 28, 2014 Commissioner Bauer commented on advertisements in publication such as the OC Weekly for medical marijuana dispensaries. Chairman Alderete commented on a meal he had at The Playground and mentioned surcharge that pays the "back of the house workers." Also noted a lot of vacant store fronts in the Downtown area. 4.
