BUSINESS CALENDAR
COMMISSIONER COMMUNICATION DISCLOSURE (REGARDING AGENDIZED
PROJECTS):
All commissioners disclosed that they had contact with Todd and /or Barry Cottle
(regarding agenda item no. 2) as stated on their disclosure forms.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
1. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2014 -54 AND VARIANCE NO. 2014 -09
(Applicant: 7- Eleven)
Legal notice published in the Orange County Reporter on December 30, 2014 and
notices mailed December 31, 2014.
A project overview was provided by Verny Carvajal,
Acting Planning Manager. Chair Alderete opened the public hearing. The applicant
answered questions and spoke in support of the project. Julie Stroud spoke in
support of the project. Matthew Koh, Richard Moser, Patrick McCarty, Avtar Gadria,
and Dick Evitt spoke in opposition of the project. Written communication from Julie
Vint stated opposition to the project.
MOTION: Adopt a resolution approving Conditional Use Permit No. 2014 -54 as
conditioned for after -hours operation and Variance No. 2014 -09 as conditioned
for minimum lot size requirements.

A project overview was provided by Ali Pezeshkpour,
Assistant Planner I. Chairman Alderete opened the public hearing. The applicant
answered questions and spoke in support of the project. There were no other
speakers and the hearing was closed.
MOTION: Adopt a resolution approving Vesting Tentative Tract Map No. 2014-
01 as conditioned for a mixed -use commercial and residential project.

Vince Fregoso
• Provided a brochure to the 2015 Planning Commissioners Academy and asked
that anyone wanting to attend please let him know.
• Informed the status of the Planning executive director position.
• Shared that Verny Carvajal has been appointed as Acting Planning Manager.
• Stated that Commissioner Yrarrazaval's term has expired and that a new
commissioner was slated for approval on the January 20 City Council agenda.
5. PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBER COMMENTS
All commissioners thanked Commissioner Yrarrazaval for his valuable service to the
Commission. Additional comments listed below:
Commissioner Bacerra
• Congratulated Vince Fregoso and Verny Carvajal on their current appointments.
Vice Chair Mill
• Stated Commissioner Yrarrazaval's accomplishments as principal at Valley High
School.
• Observed graffiti at Lily Bakery located at the corner of Harbor and Kent, as well
as at the future location of Chipotle at the corner of Harbor and McFadden.
• Shared that through networking efforts, was able to connect Good Beer
Company in Downtown Santa Ana with UCI, creating the "Anteater Ale"
specifically for UCI to be sold at campus basketball games, and will be unveiled
on Wednesday, January 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Good Beer Company (309 W. Fourth
Street).
Commissioner Yrarrazaval
• Stated it was a great pleasure serving on the commission.
ADJOURNED
6:51 P.M. - The next meeting of the Planning Commission is scheduled
for Monday, January 26, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 22
Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California.
