Dear Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, Councilmembers and City Manager
We understand you will be making recommendations for the allocation of approximately $10
million in surplus monies from the City's Budget. As you know, Santa Ana Building Healthy Communities
S'A13HQ is an initiative of non -profits, community organizations, adult and youth residents committed to
support improvements to the health and well-being of families in Central Santa Ana. In fact, we worked
with the City and SACReD to ensure wide community participation in the Five -Year Strategic Plan
because we see civic engagement as a core pillar of a healthy community. Based on the input we heard
through the Strategic Plan, through our work over the last five years of SABHC, and prior to SABHC, we
have several recommendations on the allocation of these funds that will bring immediate benefits to the
lives of thousands of families. More importantly, we have stakeholders with direct expertise that can see
through implementation efforts.
We urge you to support the following recommendations:
