SUBJECT: Letter of Support for Park Improvement Funds for the Parks,
Recreation and Community Services Agency (PRCSA)
Dear Mayor and Council:
Thank you for your leadership. The Board of Recreation and Parks met on
September 23 and received an update from staff on the amazing opportunity to
invest one time surplus monies into the City's Infrastructure. The parks and
recreational facilities in Santa Ana have high usage and limited funding for deferred
maintenance repairs. Our park facilities are in high demand. Being one of the
largest cities in the country with a high concentration of young people deserve the
best park facilities. The Board unanimously agrees that any surplus funding
available should be focused on repairing and upgrading our facilities so it can be
enjoyed by the families and children of Santa Ana.
We reviewed the Park Improvement Plan that was presented at your August 18
Council retreat and we are in full support with its recommendation. In addition, we
encouraged staff to reach out and share this wonderful "wish list" to the community.
So far we have received 131 Park Improvement Feedback forms from Santa Ana
residents encouraging the City to reinvest in our park system and prioritize the
surplus funding to renovate our park facilities,
We are proud of your leadership and feel honored to represent the community on the
City's recreation and park needs, programs, services, and events. Please continue
your support for parks and recreation facility and program improvements.
