MEMORANDUM
To: Mayor and City Council Date: September 6,2016
From: David Cavazos, City Manager oily/
Subject: City of Santa Ana Police Department PowerPoint Presentation for 09/06/2016 Council Meeting
Attached is a PowerPoint that I hope to present this evening regarding our City of Santa Ana progress in
the area of Public Safety. We need more police officers, as I have said at every budget meeting since my
arrival. I want to thank all of you for approving the 45 new police officer positions over the last three
years. We are on pace to hire 50 police officers this year.
When we evaluate the crime statistics over the last 30 years, there has been a 74% reduction in the FBI
Crime Index, and a 70% reduction in homicides since 1990.
Please take a few minutes to review and let me know if you have any questions.
