HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 72-008 (Sanitation Inspectors review collectors)RESOLUTION 72-8 AMENDING SECTION 3 OF RESOLUTION NO. 58-281 BY DELETING THE CLASS TITLE OF SANITATION INSPECTOR AND ADDING THE CLASSES OF SANITATION INSPECTOR I AND SANITATION INSPECTOR II WHEREAS, on November 3, 1958, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. 58-281, revising and re-establishing the Basic Compensation Plan for employees of the City of Santa Aha; and WHEREAS, it is now desired to modify the list of class titles contained in said Resolution No. 58-281, as amended. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the following class title be deleted from Section 3 of Resolution No. 58-281, as amended: Class Title Salary Ranse No. Sanitation Inspector and the following class titles with salary range number as set opposite, sub- stituted therefor, in proper alphabetical sequence: Sanitation Inspector I Sanitation Inspector II BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this amendment shall take effect on .lanuarv 3 , 1972. EXAM~,ES OF DUTIES Makes field inspections throughout the City on work performed by the City solid waste collection contractor to determine that service given is in accord with City regulations and contract requirements. Investigates complaints made by citizens regarding solid waste collection and rubbish or weed nuisances. Discusses with residents and property owners the type of service to which they are entitled and explains the regulations regarding their responsibility. Cooperates closely in the field with the City solid waste collection contractor, the Fire Department and the County Health Department to prevent and eliminate illegal, unsightly, hazardous or unhealthy solid waste collection, weeds, littering or storage problems. May assist in the survey, plotting, posting, inspection or cost spread involved in the annual weed abatement program. Posts placards as necessary for street abandonments, assessment districts and other municipal.activities. May issue citations for weed nuisances and illegal rubbish, litter and other trash accumulation. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS Work of this class involves the responsibility for checking the work performance by municipal solid waste collection contractor and the investigation of complaints regarding solid waste collection, weed nuisances and illegal rubbish, litter and other trash accumulation. Work assignments and technical guidance are normally received from the Sanitation Inspector II. MINIMUM BASIC REQUIRE}~NTS Three years of experience in work involving public contact, preferably including experience in the field of solid waste collection and disposal, and completion of high school; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Must possess a valid California drivers' license. DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Considerable knowledge of work methods involved in solid waste collection and disposal. Working knowledge of the solid waste collection ordinances. Working knowledge of the requirements of the solid waste collection contracts. Ability to deal with the public, sometimes under difficult circumstances, and to maintain effective relationships with other employees and the public. ACTION OF COUNCIl= CLER OF THE COBNCiL CITY OF SANTA ANA 'ACTION OF CLERK OF THE COUNCIL SANITATION INSPECTOR II, DEI"I NITION This is leadman investigative work in enforcing the regulations relating to solid waste collection, rubbish and weed nuisances. .EXAMPLES OF DUTIES In a leadman capacity, determines and makes work distribution assignments related to work performance of the solid waste collection contractor, citizen complaints regarding solid waste collection service, and complaints regarding littering, outside storage and weed nuisances on private property. Makes field inspections throughout the City on work performed by the City solid waste collection contractor to determine that service given is in accord with City regulations and contract requirements. Investigates complaints made by citizens regarding solid waste collection s~rvice, rubbish or weed nuisances. Discusses with residents and property owners the type of service to which they are entitled and explains the regulations regarding their responsibility. Discusses with.supervisor or contractor's representative the advisability for ro6te changes. Cooperates closely in the field with the City solid waste collection contractor, the Fire Department and the County Health Depart- ment to prevent and eliminate illegal, unsightly, hazardous, or unhealthy solid waste collection, weeds, littering or storage problems. Assists in coordinating the survey, plotting, posting, inspection and cost spread involved in the annual weed abatement program. Posts placards as necessary for street abandonments, assessment districts and other municipal activities. May issue citations for weed nuisances and illegal rubbish, litter and other trash accumulation. An employee in the' class serves as a laadman for Sanitation Inspectors I and receives general supervisionfrom the Construction Engineer. _ MINIMUM BASIC REQuIREMeNTS Three years of experience in work involving public contact, including one year in t} field of so'lid waste collection and disposal, and completion of high school; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
