Authorize a one -time purchase and payment of purchase order to Hondo Company, Inc. for the
renovation of an outdoor basketball court in an amount not to exceed $43,850 plus a contingency
of $2,192 for a total amount of $46,042, subject to non - substantive changes approved by the City
Manager and City Attorney.
DISCUSSION
The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency, Facilities Maintenance Section is
responsible for the maintenance and repair of various park sites in the City. The outdoor
basketball court at Campesino Park has been fenced off due to its unsafe condition which is
beyond repair. This project will demolish the existing basketball court and replace it with a
reinforced concrete court. It will also renovate the side court and apply color surface system.
The renovation will allow the residents to safely use the courts again.
The notice inviting bids was advertised on March 14, 2017, on the City's online bid management
and publication system. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows:

The bids were opened on April 11, 2017 and evaluated (Exhibit 1). The bid received from Hondo
Company, Inc., a Santa Ana vendor, is responsive to the specifications and meets the City's
requirements. To allow for unanticipated charges, a five percent contingency has been included
in the award amount.

Approval of this item supports the City's effort to meet Goal #6 — Community Facilities &
Infrastructure, Objective #1 (establish and maintain a Community Investment Plan for all City
assets), Strategy B_ (equitably maintain existing streets and associated assets in a state of good
repair so they are clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing for all users).
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $46,042 will be budgeted and made available in FY 2017 -18 Recreation
and Community Services Facilities Maintenance account (01113260- 62320)
