COMMUNICATION DISCLOSURE REGARDING AGENDIZED PROJECTS:
• Commissioner Murashie disclosed that he and Chairperson Christy visited each of the
properties.

REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2016-29.

Legal notice published in the Orange County Reporter on March 27, 2017 and notices
mailed on March 27. 2017.
Assistant Planner Orozco provided a PowerPoint presentation which included an overview
of the architectural style and history of the property. A discussion period ensued regarding
the originality of the garage.
Chairperson Christy opened the public hearing. The applicant spoke in support of the
recommended action. There were no other speakers and the hearing was closed.

Commission Application No. 2016-29 and Historic Register Categorization No. 2016-
27.

MOTION:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 2017-05 approving Historic Resources Commission
Application No. 2017-12 and Historic Register Categorization No. 2017-11.
2. Recommend that the City Council authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the
Council to execute a Mills Act agreement with Davin Gumm, subject to non -
substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney.

Candida Neal:
Informed Commission that a Special Meeting will be scheduled to discuss policy issues
on certain projects.
5. HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION COMMENTS
Commissioners Bacerra, Garcia, Hardy and Hitterdale:
• Welcomed Commissioner Rush and congratulated applicants.

Commissioner Rush
• Congratulated applicants.
• Requested that the City's award program for Outstanding Historic Preservation
Projects be reestablished.
• Requested that the City increase its efforts to address violations on historical
properties.
• Suggested that the Historic Resources Commission meetings be changed to the
second Thursday of the month of each quarter.
• Would like the Commission to discuss the Historic Property Fee Reduction resolution.

• Thanked staff and applicants.
• Welcomed Commissioner Rush.
• Agreed with Commissioner Rush's suggestion to change the meeting date.
• Discussed the historical background of a karate dojo business located on Bristol and
17th Street; opined that the building in which the business is located in should be
considered historic and not be demolished for the Bristol Street Widening Project.
• Encouraged everyone to attend the Floral Park Home and Garden Tour.
Vice Chair Schaefer
• Welcomed Commissioner Rush and Commission Secretary Bernal.
• Thanked staff and applicants.
• Agreed with Commissioner Rush's suggestion to change the meeting date.
• Encouraged everyone to attend the Floral Park Open Garden Day in May.
• Would like the Commission to discuss the Historic Property Fee Reduction resolution.

• Shared an e-mail from Leeta Wilhite, member of the Floral Park Historic Committee,
regarding resources available to help residents of the neighborhood research the
history of their homes.
ADJOURNED 5:50 P.M. — The next regular scheduled meeting of the Historic Resources
Commission is scheduled for Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. in the
Council Chamber, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California.
