Dear Council -members:
You are planning to ADD RESTRICTIONS on A.D.U. to be designed and built on private single-family
residential lots in Santa Ana. I'm OPPOSED to any more restrictions, as to what property owners wish to
do with their own home lots ---exceptions: valid concerns, such as negative impact on historical or "ultra-
high" value custom estates, and "unusually small lots (less than 4,000 square feet in size, and streets less
than 30 feet wide).
Other than that, there should be NO restrictions as to an A.D,U. being one, or two -stories in height.
Proper architectural design standards ---now in place with the City Planning department ---plus sensible
design review, by senior planners, is all that is needed without LEGISLATIVE ORDINANCE RESTRICTING
AND UNFAIRLY PENALIZING homeowners in improving their property. "Added vehicle parking and travel,
on residential streets where A.D.U. are built, is NOT a valid reason to restrict two-story units." More
children; more relatives, DOES NOT mean "MORE VEHICLES ON A STREET.
Please, do not implement a "no two-story A.D.U. ordinance" in this city. We have had enough government
restrictions on people's property, except as indicated in the first paragraph.
