General Description of Services to he Provided -The Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center (OCCTAC) <br />aroposes to continue our Crime Prevention and Intervention Program started last year July 1, 2017 in partnership with <br />Willard Intermediate School. This program provides life -changing opportunities to Santa Ana youth and their parents, by <br />=_ngaging them in important activities/interventions during the entire year: 1) After -School Arts & Therapeutic Arts <br />intervention, 2) Family Counseling, 3) Academic Support/Tutoring, and 4) Parenting Classes. <br />A 2. Detailed Description of CRIME PREVENTION & DIVERSION PROGRAM: <br />YOUTH - The crime prevention program for youth is comprised of a structured After School Arts & Tutoring program that <br />provides youth an opportunity to engage in a variety of enrichment activities and educational programs after -school to help <br />divert youth from negative social problems and engage in fun, positive, productive, creative programs, as well as academic <br />and educational support. In the After School Arts Program, the youth will continue to engage in an Arts activity of their choice <br />(Music, Art, and Dance programs). Our After School Arts programs runs every day Monday- Friday from 3:30 pm until 8 pm, <br />and on Saturdays 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. In addition to the After School Arts programs, the youth will also have the opportunity to <br />enroll in the Learning Academy program and get Academic Support/Tutoring with any subject area they are experiencing any <br />academic challenges and need support with. Tutors will be available Monday through Friday during the same hours/days as <br />the After School Arts program. <br />PARENTS -The crime prevention program for parents will consist of Parenting classes focused on important crime <br />prevention topics such as: discipline strategies, communication skills, family unity and conflict, behavioral problems, family <br />violence and others. This parenting program is designed to help parents learn to recognize both pro -social and antisocial <br />behaviors, employ social learning techniques (e.g., positive reinforcement, ignoring, distraction, punishment), preventing <br />delinquency and family violence. Families experiencing crises will be enrolled in the Crime Intervention program and also be <br />offered Counseling and therapeutic intervention. <br />A 3. Detail Description of our CRIME INTERVENTION & THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM: <br />YOUTH - Students identified by Willard administrators as victims of violence, bullying and/or have engaged in crime <br />activity will be placed in our Crime Intervention program and receive Therapeutic Arts, Family Counseling and Crises <br />Intervention. These students will be part of our "Intervention cohort" and participate weekly in our therapeutic programs <br />which target youth with moderate to severe emotional and behavioral problems. The emphasis of the program is on healing, <br />therapy and community wellness. However, the students can also participate in the After school arts and tutoring programs <br />as well. <br />EXHIBIT A <br />
