Laguna Beach Pathway Projects, Laguna Beach, CA <br />(Landscape Architect) <br />Steve managed the landscape architecture portion <br />of the PS&E preparation for the Top of the World <br />(TOW) Pedestrian Pathway which connects the TOW <br />neighborhood to the Orange County regional trail system, <br />and new pathway adjacent to Laguna Canyon Road, from <br />the College of Art and Design to the City's Act V Parking <br />Lot. Both trails bisected natural coastal sage scrub so <br />.determining the lowest Impact design while meeting <br />the goals of the project fell within his team's scope, His <br />experience In designing with natural materials, as well as <br />his in-depth knowledge of this region's California native <br />plant families, were keys to the success of these projects. <br />Golden Valley Road, Santa Clarks, CA <br />(Landscape Architect) <br />Slave prepared the landscape concept plan for <br />preliminary approvals and later the landscape construction <br />documents. This project was a street widening and <br />renovation project was adjacent to and spanned the <br />Caltrans right of way at SR-14. He worked closely with the <br />City's staff to Incorporate the new landscape Items into the <br />existing. Existing points of connections were used where <br />possible and new ones were installed where necessary, <br />One particular challenge discovered during design was <br />the lack of an existing power source for an area of new <br />landscape. Steve's knowledge of cutting edge produots <br />within his Industry, which is a result of maintaining his <br />Cortified Irrigation Auditor and EPAWaterSense Partner <br />credentials, allowed him to suggest to the City the use of <br />a newly released solar powered controller that would meet <br />the most current water saving requirements. Avoiding <br />the need to install a new elaotrical supply saved the City <br />design and construction costs. <br />Miraloma Streetscape, Anaheim, CA <br />(Landscape Architect) <br />Stave prepared the landscape concept plan for <br />preliminary approvals and later the landscape construction <br />documents, While the project was mainly a property <br />conversion from commercial use to a ground water <br />recharge basin, the streetscape was considered an <br />important element for community acceptance. <br />Working closely with the staff of the Orange County Water <br />District, Steve's past experience as a landscape contractor <br />gave him the ability to accurately determine the existing <br />planting and hardscape elements that could be salvaged <br />to not only save money, but provide a more mature lock to <br />the finished product. <br />"Denotes projects completed with other firms <br />His knowledge of California native plant material and the <br />most current Irrigation methods and materials resulted In <br />reduced cost relative to construction, water savings, and <br />lower maintenance requirements, <br />Mecca Streets Revitalization - Economic Development <br />Agency, Riverside, CA (Landscape Architect) <br />Steve prepared the landscape conceptual drawings <br />and construction documents for this 2013 APWA merit <br />award -winning neighborhoodlcommunityredevelopment <br />project, He worked closely with representatives of the <br />County of Riverside's Economic Development Agency <br />and its Transportation Department to provide landscape <br />architectural services that met the desires and needs <br />of both, Steve's coordination with other disciplines <br />was a key element of the preliminary design. The <br />conceptual drawings that his team prepared were used <br />to communicate the Intent, The drawings were also used <br />in the securing of development funds, Steve's team <br />took the projectfrom conceptual through construction <br />documentation. <br />El Camino Real/Carmel Mountain Road at Torrey Hills, <br />San Diego, CA (Landscape Architect) <br />Steve prepared the landscape construction documents for <br />complete streetscape improvements, Including 3 miles of <br />streetscape within the right-of-way along CI Camino Real <br />from Carmel Valley Road and Carmel Mountain Road and <br />the adjacent slope improvements (roughly 40 acres of <br />constructed slopes), that would ultimately be maintained <br />by the Sorrento Hills Landscape Maintenance District. <br />The streetscape design included access driveways and <br />intersections for commercial, multl family residential, light <br />industrial egress. Through design and construction, these <br />egress points were relocated. Steve helped coordinate the <br />ongoing plan modifications with the adjacent land owners <br />and their contractors to make the necessary modifications <br />to accommodate for these changes, At the west end of the <br />Carmol Mountain Road Improvements, it was necessary <br />to prepare for a future onramp at 1.5. The improvements <br />within this area were designed and processed in <br />accordance with the Caltrans standards, <br />Throughout the project, Steve coordinated closely with <br />Caltrans and the local neighborhood representatives.
