a wide variety of faiths including (a) Roman Catholic, (b) Evangelical Christian, (c) Jehovah's Witness, (d) <br />Jewish, (e) Mormon, (f) Muslim, and (g) Protestant, in addition to regular bible studies. <br />A General Educational Development (GED) program is also offered to inmates. An average of 100 <br />inmates have graduated from the GED program annually since its inception. This highly successful <br />inmate educational program was developed by instructors from the Santa Ana College School of <br />Continuing Education, Inmate Education, Horizon Wilshire GED Center, and the Santa Ana City Jail. <br />The following is a list of the programs and classes offered in the Santa Ana City Jail: <br />• Alcoholics Anonymous <br />• Anger Management <br />• Breaking Barriers <br />• Business Skills <br />• Computer Applications <br />• English as a Second Language (ESL) <br />• Goal Setting <br />• Learning Styles <br />• Microsoft Office <br />• Music <br />• Parenting <br />• Substance Abuse Treatment <br />• Women's Aglow <br />The space allocated to programs/classrooms is 4,833 square feet. <br />Observations and Evaluations - Consultant Evaluation Rating., 2.4 Adequate <br />• A number of observations about the large classroom included the following: <br />- Large classroom is used approximately five times a day when Jail is operating near capacity. <br />It is used approximately three times a day when operating without ICE inmates. <br />- One unisex ADA accessible restroom is not in use and is being utilized for additional <br />classroom storage. <br />- Musical instruments are stored above cabinets instead of in a dedicated area. <br />- All technology used for second floor classroom is provided by Santa Ana College. <br />- Existing' computers for school programs are several years old and should be replaced with <br />more modern equipment. <br />- Large classroom contains class supply storage and utilizes original cabinets. <br />• The furniture in smaller classrooms / multi-purpose rooms in housing units is not fixed and could <br />pose a security risk. <br />• Teacher / volunteer offices are available on mezzanine level of housing units are of adequate size <br />and condition. <br />Large Classroom for Computer & Music Classes <br />65A-178 <br />Small Classroom/ Multipurpose Room <br />Appendix B. <br />
