I <br />3.3 Statement of Objectives <br />The purpose of the proposed project is to implement the <br />Amended Redevelopment Plan for the City of Santa Ana Redevelopment <br />Project by providing for the rehabilitation and redevelopment of the <br />Fashion Square Commercial Center site. The site shall be designed and <br />developed consistent with the Redevelopment Plan as a mixed use <br />commercial complex. The complex will be designed to insure that the <br />individual buildings in the complex will have a distinctive, but <br />cohesive architectural appearance. <br />Since the project is in a redevelopment area as designated by <br />the City of Santa Ana Community Redevelopment Agency, the project <br />objectives will be to support the objectives of the Redevelopment Plan, <br />which are: <br />- To work in development and revitalization of the downtown <br />core and northern core (Fashion Square) so that the two <br />areas are complementary in terms of land use and develop- <br />ment of that use rather than contradictory and competitive. <br />- To strengthen vehicular access between the northern retail <br />center (Fashion Square) and the downtown area, and to <br />implement a program of improved traffic circulation and <br />freeway access between north and central Santa Ana, in <br />order that service of both areas is more available to all <br />persons in and surrounding the Project Area. <br />- To strengthen the revitalization of the central city and <br />the North Main shopping area by implementing a program <br />of beautification and improvement. <br />- Restore the economic, social and physical health of the <br />Santa Ana Redevelopment Area. <br />25 <br />75D-168 <br />
