City of Santa Ana Addendum to the
MainPlace Mall Transformation Proiect Fashion Square Commercial Center Final EIR
5.13 PUBLIC SERVICES AND UTILITIES
Summary of Impacts Identified in the 1983 EIR
Natural Gas
The 1983 EIR described that the Originally Approved Plan would result in an increased
consumption of natural gas, which would have a less than significant impact on the
ability of the Southern California Gas Company to continue to provide gas supplies. The
1983 refers to the energy related mitigation measures, in Section 5.14, but does not
include any specific natural gas related measures.
Electricity
The 1983 EIR described that the Originally Approved Plan would result in increased
energy consumption, which would be supplied by existing facilities and are within the
projected growth in load identified by Southern California Edison. The 1983 EIR
determined that impacts related to electricity would be less than significant and referred
to the energy related mitigation measures, in Section 5.14, but does not include any
specific electricity related measures.
Communications
The 1983 EIR describes that telephone services would require reinforcement of the
existing telephone network, such as installation of new cables and conduit systems. The
1983 EIR determined that these impacts would be less than significant, and no
mitigation measures were included.
Water
The 1983 EIR describes that the Project site is served by12-inch and 8-inch water
mains located adjacent to the site, and that another 16-inch line could be extended to
serve the site. The EIR also determined that the proposed Project is estimated to
consume approximately 490,000 gallons of water per day. Impacts related to water
were determined to be less than significant and no mitigation measures were included.
Sewer
The 1983 EIR describes that the site was served by an 8-inch sewer line and that an
existing 12-inch sewer main could also serve the site. The 1983 EIR estimated that the
Project would generate approximately 490,000 gallons of wastewater per day and
determined that the existing sewer line would need to be expanded or new lines
installed to be able to meet the increase in flows. The 1983 EIR found that the new
facilities would be determined as site plans are proposed and that such facilities would
be installed as a condition of approval in accordance with the City's standard
procedures. The 1983 EIR determined that these impacts would be less than significant,
and no mitigation measures were included.
me MIRY Mir
143
