Neutral Ground proposes to host Summer Night Lights for 10 weeks in EI Salvador park, June 6th- August 11th. <br />Program mingwould be provided two (2) nights a week, Thursday and Friday nights, from 7pm-11pm. Each week would be <br />programmed around a theme and program mingwould consist of sports/ clinics, arts <br />and crafts, health and wellness, community resources, and special events. <br />Sports/Clinics- Neutral Ground will utilize existing Parks and Recreation infrastructure (courts, fields, <br />etc) to offer sports programming and skills development. Each week could culminate in a match or game on <br />Saturday night. High lightsto this programming could be special matches between youth involved in the <br />sports clinics and special Adult teams, such as a basketball game between youth and Santa Ana Fire <br />Department. Arts and Crafts- Each night will have available arts and crafts tables for smaller children to engage in making a <br />special take home artwork or craft. Local artists could be brought in to teach special one-time <br />classes as well. Finally, local artwork created through existing Parks and Recreation classes or through local <br />artists granted from the City of Santa Ana can be on displayfor residents to enjoy. Health and Wellness- Neutral Ground will <br />request nonprofit and health organizationsto provide resources and materials duringthe summer. These could include free eye <br />clinics, free dental exams, free HIV/STD testing, as well as health and wellness classes such as yoga and Zumba. Community <br />Resources- Neutral Ground will partnerwith a variety of nonprofit organizations and City and County agenciesto provide <br />materials and information each night. Examples of these are Latino voter registration, Libraryoutreach providing library <br />materials and information on obtaining a library card, Department of Parks and Recreation services and classes, and LAFD <br />providingsafety presentations and a fire truckfor children to tour. Special Events- Neutral Ground plans to incorporate special <br />events into programming through leveraged resources and relationships. Examples of this could be an Automobile Enthusiast <br />Club bringing vintage cars to " 195os theme week" for attendees to see or a Mariachi band performing.Neutral Ground provides <br />gang prevention and intervention, and positive youth programmingand mentoring in Santa Ana and proposes to provide <br />Summer Night Lights programming in at least one park in <br />Santa Ana.
