Orozco, Norma
From: nichole pham <nicholepham@yahoo.com>
Sent: Monday, July 13, 2020 7:16 PM
To: eComment
Subject: City Council Meeting
Categories: Correspondence
This is in regards to the 7-Eleven Convenience Store and Service Station located at 813 North Euclid Street in
the Community Commercial (C-1) zone. Hearing set for Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 5:45p.
I am 100% against this project as I believe a 24 hour, 7 days a week Convenience Store and Service Station will
bring trouble and harm to the area. I live within close walking distance as I received the letter to submit my
comments on this matter. I have two young children and one goes to the elementary school that's a few minutes
walk from this location. I believe a 24/7 establishment will open the doors to more possible crime and loitering
to the area. When I was looking at houses to buy with my husband, we wanted an area away from gas stations
and convenience stores. We would not have purchased our house if this convenience store and service station
was already there. I do not want more reason to fear for my children's safety and do not want an establishment
that's 24/7 within walking distance. This convenience store will be selling alcohol and cigarettes, and that is not
something that should be near any school let alone an elementary school. Many neighbors on my street do not
speak English and are not the home owners so I fear that there won't be as much response against this project as
there should be. A service station will also bring more traffic to this main street and I fear more accidents,
especially when kids are walking to and from school, will happen. We have already had small issues of theft
and vandalism, and I can only imagine it would be worse with alcohol readily available at all hours of the night.
Nothing good happens in the middle of the night and I do not want to have to be concerned about higher
activities from lOp-5a next to my home. I do not see anything good from this and do not want this to
happen.
Nichole Pham
