• MODERN TECHNOLOGY SCHOOL:.; • SCHOOL CATALOG • <br />CLINICAL INTERNSHIP Continued.... <br />The Medical Assistant/Back office program is a full-time assignment. (40 hours per week/240 total <br />hours). You must make all the necessary arrangements to meet this requirement before starting clinical <br />rotation. Typical clinical hours are Monday — Friday, 8 am — 5 pm. All students must take a required <br />Y2 hour lunch which is not included in the clinical hours. <br />The X-Ray/Medical Assistant clinical internship is combined with classroom training, & is a full-time <br />assignment (35-40 hours per week/520 total hrs). Radiologic Health Branch regulations require X-ray <br />students wear their dosimeter & name tag at all times during internship. You must make all the <br />necessary arrangements to meet this requirement before starting their clinical rotation. Typical clinical <br />hours are Monday — Friday, 8 am — 5 pm. All students must take a required '/z hour lunch which is not <br />included in the clinical hours. <br />The Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound/Vascular Technology clinical internship, combined with classroom <br />training, is a full-time assignment (32-36 hours per week/1024 total hrs). Clinical hours may require a <br />daytime, evening or weekend commitment. You must make all the necessary arrangements to meet <br />this requirement before starting their clinical rotation. All students must take a required 'Y2 hour lunch <br />which is not included in the clinical hours. <br />Students must have reliable transportation available to and from their clinical assignment. <br />Students will be subjected to background checks by clinical facilities prior toentry. <br />MTS maintains general liability insurance on all students during clinical internship. <br />EVALUATION OF CLINICAL PERFORMANCE <br />Competency based standards are set by the school for clinical performance. Both the clinical facility <br />and school personnel will submit evaluations. <br />Failing clinical training or violating standards of department during a clinical internship can result in <br />program failure. A restart of clinical will be evaluated on a case -by -case basis, and may require <br />additional tuition charges. Only upon satisfactory completion of all segments of the program will a <br />Diploma be issued. <br />CASE STUDY LOG AND TIME SHEET <br />Each clinical student is required to maintain a time sheet and a logbook of cases observed and <br />performed by the student during internship. Submission of time sheets, procedural counts and copies <br />of clinical logs to the clinical department on a weekly basis is mandatory and is a requirement of <br />graduation. <br />SCHOOL HOLIDAYS DURING CLINICAL INTERNSHIPS <br />MTS Holidays listed in this catalog represents classroom/didactic days recognized only by the school. <br />These holidays DO NOT pertain to students' clinical training schedule. Each student is required to <br />maintain the scheduled clinical hours and days at the clinic to which they are assigned, and may take <br />only those holidays recognized by the clinical facility. In addition, as during the classroom phase, <br />students are not allowed to take vacations during their clinical or didactic training.
