I"l I I'!;l!,,, ,./ 1,,.,; l II!lci/e„ CA <br />The City of Glendale received a Proposition 84 Greening Project Grant which resulted in the City's first <br />Green Streets project. For 5,539 linear feet of roadway along South Louise Street and East Harvard <br />Street. With a strong emphasis on urban greening, the City's objective was to combine multimodal <br />infrastructure improvements including Class III bike routes with enhancements to water quality and <br />stormwater management. One key element that Kimley-Horn worked closely with the City on was the <br />creative protection of existing catch basins and building the bioswale/bio-retention around the inlets <br />to save cost. This concept also required interface with Los <br />Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD) for the <br />protection of their drainage system. Kimley-Horn provided <br />construction PS&E to complete the design of this project. <br />Scope of work elements included the development of street <br />improvement plans, traffic signing and striping plans, traffic <br />signal modification plans, flashing beacon plans, bioswale <br />improvement plans/details, and storm drain improvement <br />plans. The proposed improvements required right-of- <br />way acquisitions; geometrical design modifications at Valley <br />Mall to allow for right -in and right -out traffic movement; various <br />utility adjustments/relocations; traffic signal improvements; bus <br />stop and bus shelter relocations; and parkway and sidewalk <br />modifications. The project will result in a complete plan, specification, and cost estimate package for <br />bidding and construction purposes.
