NUR 102-L. Intermediate Medical -Surgical Nursing, <br />Laboratory (0.5) <br />Educational activities to efficiently and accurately train <br />the students to learn and develop skills and judgement <br />for appropriate care focusing on the Medical Surgical <br />clients. Students will receive a variety of activities from <br />trained nursing instructors using role-playing and <br />lifelike virtual environments to enhance their clinical <br />practice. Opportunities for practicing select <br />psychomotor skills will be provided and the use of <br />simulation will enhance the student's critical thinking <br />and clinical decision -malting skills. <br />NUR 103. Child and Family Nursing (3) <br />This course focuses on the care of children within the <br />family, emphasizing on acute illness, health promotion, <br />and growth and development. QSEN concepts of safety, <br />patient/family centered care, teamwork and <br />collaboration, evidenced -based practice, quality <br />improvement, and informatics are emphasized. <br />NUR 103-C. Child and Family Nursing, Clinical (2) <br />Students are provided the opportunity to apply the <br />nursing process in the care of infant, toddler, pre- <br />school, school -age, and adolescent population in a <br />variety of clinical settings. <br />NUR 103-L. Child and Fa►nily Nursing, Laboratory <br />(0.5) <br />Educational activities to efficiently and accurately train <br />the students to learn and develop shills and judgement <br />for appropriate care focusing on Pediatric clients and <br />their families. Students will receive a variety of <br />activities from trained nursing instructors using role- <br />playing and lifelike virtual environments to enhance <br />their clinical practice. Opportunities for practicing <br />select psychomotor skills will be provided and the use <br />of simulation will enhance the student's critical <br />thinking and clinical decision -making shills. <br />NUR 104. Maternal Child Nursing (3) <br />This course presents nursing concepts related to the <br />dynamics of the growing family. Focus is placed on the <br />care of families during childrearing years and includes <br />normal and high -risk pregnancies, normal growth and <br />development, and the promotion of healthy behaviors. <br />NUR 104-C. Maternal Child Nursing, Clinical (2) <br />Clinical experiences provide the student an <br />opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and <br />implement safe patient care to mothers and newborns <br />in a variety of clinical settings. <br />NUR 104-L. Maternal Child Nursing, Laboratory <br />(0.5) <br />Educational activities to efficiently and accurately train <br />the students to learn and develop skills and judgement <br />for appropriate care focusing on the Maternal Child <br />clients, their mothers, and their families. Students will <br />receive a variety of activities from trained nursing <br />instructors using role-playing and lifelike virtual <br />environments to enhance their clinical practice. <br />Opportunities for practicing select psychomotor skills <br />will be provided and the use of simulation will enhance <br />the student's critical thinking and clinical decision - <br />malting shills. <br />NUR 105. Mental Health and Gero -Psychiatric <br />Nursing (3) <br />This course focuses on the care of adults and older <br />adults experiencing cognitive, mental and behavioral <br />disorders. Emphasis is placed on management of <br />patients facing emotional and psychological stressors <br />as well as promoting and maintaining the mental <br />health of individuals and families. Concepts of crisis <br />intervention, therapeutic communication, anger <br />management, and coping skills are integrated <br />throughout the course. <br />NUR 105-C. Mental Health and Gero-Psychiatric <br />Nursing, Clinical (2) <br />Students are provided clinical experience in various <br />psych and Gero-psych clinical settings. <br />NUR 105-L. Mental Health and Gero-Psychiatric <br />Nursing, Laboratory (0.5) <br />Educational activities to efficiently and accurately train <br />the students to learn and develop skills and judgement <br />for appropriate care focusing on the mental and <br />behavioral disorder clients. Students will receive a <br />variety of activities from trained nursing instructors <br />using role-playing and lifelike virtual environments to <br />enhance their clinical practice. Opportunities for <br />practicing select psychomotor skills will be provided <br />and the use of simulation will enhance the student's <br />critical thinking and clinical decision -making skills. <br />Students are provided both skills laboratory and <br />simulation experiences. <br />NUR 106. Advanced Medical -Surgical Nursing (3) <br />This course focuses on advanced application of the <br />nursing process in the care of critically ill adult and <br />older adult clients.
