Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal <br />Students placed on SAP Probation may appeal by responding within five (5) days from the date of the <br />SAP Probation notification using a formal letter. The SAP Appeal must be a clearly written document, <br />include any supporting documentation of circumstances that prevented the student from maintaining <br />SAP, and explain what has changed in the student's situation that will allow SAP to be met at the next <br />monitoring point. Examples of such circumstances are: death in the family, severe illness, severe injury, <br />or other special circumstances that contributed to academic performance. The SAP Appeal will be <br />reviewed by a committee within ten (10) days following receipt. The reviewing committee shall include <br />personnel representing the Administration, Financial Aid Office, and Registrar's Office. The decision of <br />the SAP Appeal will be provided in a letter sent to the student's last known mailing address and/or email <br />address. <br />The institution's decision to the SAP Appeal is deemed final and may not be appealed. <br />Student Records <br />Transcripts and other documents received by the College for the purpose of admission or other purposes <br />become the property of the College and will not be released to or copied for students. California <br />regulatory agencies require that student records be kept for only five (5) years, Pacific College's student <br />records are retained indefinitely. <br />Study Time, Required <br />Outside study, apart from regular classroom work, is required in order to successfully complete the <br />required course assignments. The amount of time will vary according to the individual student's abilities. <br />All assignments must be turned in at the designated time. Students are responsible for reading any study <br />materials issued by their instructors and can expect such assignments to average approximately two <br />hours for each hour of class time over the total length of a program. <br />Suspension from the College <br />Students may be suspended from the College based upon unsatisfactory academic progress or violations <br />of the conduct policy. Student may apply for reinstatement through the student appeal process. The final <br />decision to suspend a student is made by the College President. <br />Transcripts <br />The College will provide one official transcript without charge to each student upon receipt of diploma. <br />Additional transcripts or transcripts needed prior to or after the receipt of diploma will cost $5.00 each. <br />The student's financial account must be current for transcripts to be furnished. <br />Tutoring and Study Groups <br />Students who need extra assistance because of academic difficulties may arrange for tutoring through <br />their instructor, the Program Director, and/or the Vice President of Instruction. Additional fees for <br />tutoring may be charged accordingly. <br />Withdrawal from the College <br />If a student wishes to voluntarily withdraw from the college for any reason, the student must officially <br />notify the school in writing. Students who wish to withdraw must contact the Program Director and have <br />an exit interview with a representative of the Financial Aid Department. The date of the exit interview is <br />the date of determination; or if a student provides a formal notice of withdrawal in writing, the date <br />Pacific College 2020-2021 Catalog 51 <br />
